Joe Bob Green, 80, passed away on September 6, 2020, at his home in Easterly. Burial will be at Holly Cemetery.

Joe Bob was born on April 22, 1940, in Marlin, Texas, to the late Riley Leon and Annie Pauline Jenkins Green and was a lifetime resident of Robertson County.

He married Gloria Hanks Green on July 19, 1958, in Normangee, and they had two children, Bobby Allen Green and Renea Green. Joe Bob was a hard worker and a great provider for his family. His family was the light of his life and he loved getting together with them, watching them grow, being there for special events, and playing a prank on them (or with them) now and then.

He enjoyed his garden for many years and was so proud of the huge tomatoes and onions that he could grow.

He was the owner/operator of Green’s Dirt Hauling for over 40 years. He worked hard hauling dirt and doing dirt and dozer work for many families and businesses in Robertson County. Many people will remember seeing his brown dump truck running around town…no signs on the side, but everyone knew the brown dump truck was him.

Joe Bob was proud to be a retired volunteer fireman. He, his best friend-Milton Martin, and a few others helped start the Easterly Volunteer Fire Department. Joe Bob and Gloria also opened Joe’s Game Room in the eighties for the kids to have a place to have fun and stay out of trouble. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Baden.

Joe Bob was preceded in death by his brother, James Green; and sisters: Laquita Williams, Carolyn Green, and Rita Green.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Gloria Green; daughter, Renea Green; son, Bobby Green and his wife, Melanie; grandchildren: Jeremy Morse and his wife, Lea, Keith Green and his wife, Angel, Stephanie Sanders and her husband, Chris, and Jacob Morse and his wife, Bre; great-grandchildren: Landri Massey, Bailie Sanders, Leslie Sanders, Rance Penick, Laramie Morse, Creed Morse, Brintley Green, Lane Morse, Riley Morse, Hunter Morse, and Sophie McNeil; other relatives and many friends.
