Dixie Virginia Brown (Benton) 98, of Garland, TX, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Virginia was born on September 30, 1921, in her grandmother's boarding house on Canton Street in downtown Dallas, Texas. The eldest daughter of Charles E Benton and Dixie Pace Benton, she lived the majority of her life within a few miles of her beloved place of birth.
Virginia attended North Dallas High School in Dallas and earned a certificate in computer programming from El Centro College in 1967. She was an accomplished accountant for most of her life and later retired to follow her new love as the owner of two art galleries, El Sibil and Adobe Walls, in historic downtown Garland. She was a professional picture framer, and her artisanship is displayed in many homes and businesses regionally. Outside of work, her passion was researching her family's genealogy.

Virginia, known by her grandchildren as "Ginnymom", cherished the times she spent with her family celebrating holidays and birthdays. She loved reading; especially books about the Civil War and Native American Culture.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dixie; her sisters, Jacqueline Bosler and Dorothy Reagan; her brothers, Arnold Benton and Charles W Benton; her husbands, JD McKay, and Bob Brown.
