Steve Wilson Wade, 76, of Bremen, Georgia, left his earthly home and entered into the glory of his heavenly home on September 5, 2020, following a hard-fought battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully, holding the hand of his wife that he had held and protected for almost 60 years.

Steve was born on July 17, 1944, to Jim Buck and Pauline (McAdams) Wade. Steve grew up in a loving, humble, and God-fearing home with his sister, Shirley, and brothers, Truman and Max. Steve met his wife, Gloria, as an 8th grader at Draketown School.
Steve and Gloria were married on August 17, 1963. Soon after, they built their first home together and he was notified by letter that he had been drafted into the Army. Although he did not want to leave his new bride for Vietnam, Steve quickly became known as “Preacher Wade” for his relationship with Jesus, uplifting spirit, counseling, and prayers for his fellow soldiers. There, he began his life’s message that we can bring the work of heaven to whatever task we are given on earth. Steve was wounded in battle, earning a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. In 1968, he returned home to his bride.

Their daughter, Angela, was born in 1972, followed by another daughter, Amy in 1977. Steve’s family was everything to him. He was a loving husband and faithful father. His girls adored him, and he was the perfect combination of hard-working and intentional, yet spontaneous and fun. One of his most prized titles was “Paw Paw” to his 5 grandchildren.

Steve was a life-long member of Corinth Baptist Church, serving for 49 years as a deacon. He was a devoted and constant leader and a bright light in the Corinth community. Steve became a business owner as a young man and led several businesses during his life; however, Steve treasured more importantly the things in life that money can not buy and death can not steal.

Steve was predeceased by his father Jim Buck, his mother, Pauline, and brother, Gerald.

Those left to cherish his memory and legacy include: his wife of 57 years, Gloria, and two daughters Angela Wade O’Neal (Chad O’Neal) of Tallapoosa, and Amy Wade Cole of Bremen.
Grandchildren: Allie O’Neal Smith (John Smith), Steve Wade O’Neal, Fair O’Neal, Lilianna Stoughton, Jacob Cole.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Corinth Baptist Church between 5pm and 8pm.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be at 3 pm on Thursday, September 10, 2020, at Corinth Baptist Church with Reverend Barry Taylor, Mr. Jimmy McAdams, and Reverend John Lemmings officiating. Music will be provided by Corey Pearson, Joel & Brenda Agan, Karlie Hooper, and Alex McKinley. Richard Wade, Michael Wade, Michael Lewis, Johnny Roer, Gatlin Roer, Tim Craft, and Wade O’Neal will serve as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Billy McAdams, Don Edwards, Johnny Dearing, Gary Vaughn, Herbert Whitton and Tommy Garner.

Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.
