On Monday, August 31, 2020, David French went to be with the Lord. David was a construction worker and enjoyed wood working. He was a volunteer at the Ghent Fire Department, serving as an EMT. David will be remembered as a kind and special person with many friends.
He was born on March 16, 1965 in Beckley to Helen "Cleo" Vitsos-French (B. 1936), with whom he made his home, and the late Robert Lewis French (1932-Deceased).
In addition to his mother he is survived by a special friend, Bill Killen; brothers, Bob French and Terry French of Clayton, NC, and Steve French of Beckley; uncles, Johnny Vitsos of Helen, and George Vitsos & wife Dorothy "Dot" Vitsos of Myrtle Beach; aunt, Anna Lee Atkins of Beckley; niece, BriAnna French of Clayton; nephew, Caleb French of Clayton; and special cousins, Leslie Policastro of Surfside, SC, and Christopher Vitsos of Columbia, SC.
A “Service of Remembrance” will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 1:00 pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. Doc Adkins of First Baptist Church will be officiating. David will be laid to rest in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. The family will be receiving friends at 12:00 noon. The Ghent Volunteer Fire Department will serve as pallbearers and perform Fireman honors for David.
