She died, along with her child, in childbirth in 1901. She and her child were buried side-by-side (some accounts say the baby was buried at her feet), but when the coffin was opened, the baby was found in the mother's arms. The statue is called 'La Milagrosa' (the 'Miracle Woman').∼died in childbirth
