Born on November 26th, 1926, Mrs. Moore was a native and lifetime resident of Shreveport. She graduated from Byrd High School and attended Northwestern State University. She was a past president and lifetime member of The Woman’s Department Club of Shreveport, a Life Member of the Shreveport Opera, and a charter member of the Shreveport Little Theater Guild. A devoted Christian, she was baptized at First Presbyterian Church, attended Broadmoor Presbyterian for many years with her husband, Charles, then returned to First Presbyterian later in life. “Rosey”, as she was known to friends and family, kept a lovely and impeccable home, was an avid collector of many beautiful items, made incredibly gorgeous clothing for herself and family members through the years, could cook like nobody’s business, and was an excellent gardener. She and Charles were active in many facets of Shreveport society and gave back to their community in a multitude of ways throughout their lives.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Baggett Moore; parents, Hugh William McClurg and Mabel Gray Steere; sister Kathleen McClurg Troutman; and niece, Julienne Troutman Martin. She is survived by nephew, David Troutman; nephew-in-law, Roger Martin; great-nieces, Kathryn Ray and Lindsley Troutman; great-nephew Grant Troutman; and several great-great-nephews and nieces.
From a saved newspaper article, Rosey left behind this wish for her friends and family: “We would wish them courage and faith to face the future with clear direction and concern for one another…(and) that they find their burden lifted by a memory of our smile or by a kind, loving act we did for them or with them. May we all live today so that our future remembrance might bless all who knew us and loved us.”
