A lifetime resident of the La Porte area, Bill was a member of the La Porte Assembly of God Church, serving as a deacon and board member. Bill also served in the United States Army during WWII, stationed in the Philippines and Korea. He earned The Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, The Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, The Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal Japan. Bill retired from Modines Manufacturing after 42 years. He was an avid fisherman, but his true passion in life was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his two daughters, Bettina (Adrian) Greer of Rolling Prairie, IN, Cecilee Malone of Rolling Prairie; and a grandchild, Nathanael Greer of Rolling Prairie, IN.
Along with his wife, William was preceded in death by his parents.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Sunday, September 13, 2020 from 4-7 pm. and from 10:00 am until service time on Monday. A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held at the funeral home Monday, September 14, 2020 at 11:00 am with Pastor Roger Coleman officiating. Interment will follow at the Springville Cemetery, La Porte, Indiana with Military Honors.
