From the late 1950's he was in the Real Estate and Construction business with his grandfather. He was self-employed buying and selling businesses and owned a bar, The White Front on West 16th Street. For several years he was an exclusive representative for Ford Motor Sports until he retired. He was a member of Masonic Lodge and a former member of IHC and Broadmoor Country Club.
He is survived by his brother; Stanley (Phyllis) Herman, Brothers-in-law Aaron Cohen and Buddy Schaffer, and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Bernie is preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Carolyn Cohen and Jeannie Schaffer.
