Mattie Lou Sutton Harris of Micanopy, Florida, age 79, was a retired fork lift driver who worked for Franklin Crates Company. Mattie was born and lived in Micanopy all of her life until health concerns required that she move to her daughter's home in Gainesville, Florida, where she died. Mattie was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Lillie Mae Herring Sutton, a brother Paul Sutton and a sister Carrie Lee Sutton. She leaves behind in life a son, Joseph Harris of Gainesville, Florida and a daughter Lucretia Fountain of Gainesville, Florida, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mattie joined the Mount Bethel Baptist Church at an early age. She later attended the Paradise United Methodist Church in Micanopy. Mattie often serenaded the citizens of Micanopy with her guitar, playing at different churches and various events and even at home where people would often visit just to hear her play. Mattie was a well known participant in the local 4th of July parades, sometimes decorating her bicycle with red, white and blue streamers and flags and dressed for the occasion.
