Maxine Cooper, 99, longtime Parsons resident, died at 6:01 a.m., Sunday, September 6, 2020 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin. The past few years she had been cared for at the Quaker Hill Nursing Home near Baxter Springs and earlier lived at Woodridge Estates in Parsons.

She was born Mary Maxine Madl on November 12, 1920, at St. Paul, to William A. and Grace C. (Richardson) Madl. She graduated from St. Francis High School in 1940.

On October 2, 1940 she and Chester F. Cooper were married at Independence. They lived in Parsons throughout their married life and Chet preceded her in death on February 10, 1973.

Maxine was employed at the Fred Ronald Manufacturing Co. for seven years and for another seven years worked part time at Garfield School. She was a member of the Catholic faith.

She and Chet were the parents of three sons, all of whom preceded her in death, Jimmy, Kenny and Larry.

Surviving are two grandsons, Troy Cooper of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Timothy Cooper of Sherwood, Arkansas; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Grace Wilma Cass of Parsons. She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, with Fr. Curtis Robertson officiating. Burial will be in East Bethany Cemetery north of Parsons.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m., until the funeral hour on Saturday. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. They may be left at or sent to the funeral home at Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
