Genetta Jane "Nettie" Ashe was born in September 1865 in Jackson County, North Carolina, the daughter of Coleman Asbury Ashe (1834-1919) and Lavada Jane Parker Ashe (1840-1890). She was married to James D. Middleton (1855-1945) on 22 August 1880 in Jackson County, NC. They had four daughters and two sons. They lived in Jackson County, NC for many years before relocating to Lake Toxaway, NC. She died on 21 May 1945 in Lake Toxaway, NC at the age of 79. She was interred at the Middleton Cemetery.
