GENEVA - R. Dean Conrad, age 84 of Geneva, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 at Geneva General Hospital.

Visitation was Monday, Feb. 16 at Finger Lakes Family Funeral Home where members of the Winnek Post 396 met for a service for their deceased comrade.

The Rev. William Coffas celebrated the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at St. Stephen's Church. Burial with full military honors was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Geneva Public Library or to a charity of one's choice.

Mr. Conrad was born Jan. 22, 1925 in Gibson City the son of the late Frank and Julia Strelluf Conrad. He was a resident of Geneva for many years.

He served his country with the Army during World War II.

Mr. Conrad was a retired district manager for DeKalb Agriculture Research. He was a member of Winnek Post 396 American Legion, formerly was on the board of directors of Finger Lakes Council Girl Scouts and was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish.

Following his retirement, Mr. Conrad and his wife traveled extensively and wintered for many years in Maui, Hawaii.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; his daughters, Marcia (Bob) Miller of Hingham, Mass., Debbie (Bob Weiss) Conrad of New York City, Linda (Bill) Bellingham of Ontario; nine grandchildren, Dan, Matt, Kevin, Caryn, Andrew, Lizzy, Jessica, Stephanie and Bill and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy and his brother and sisters, Clarence Conrad, Violet Taylor, Leona Borchers and Gladys Arnold.
