William Samuel “David” Cummings, age 45, of Spring Lake, NC lost his battle of cancer on August 31, 2020.

David fought his battle with all his heart because his family loved him so much. David worked tirelessly as an operator at Goodyear in Fayetteville, NC.

David was born on October 1, 1974 and was raised in Sanford, NC.

David had an unconditional love for his mother, children, and grandchildren. David was a loving and devoted father, son, brother, and grandfather. David was loved unconditionally by his family and friends.

David loved politics, football and basketball. He was a loyal father and grandfather and a man of his word. He cherished every moment with his children with teaching, playing and guiding them in the best direction in life. He was a hero to his children.

David is survived by his mother and step father, Sandra and Gerald Tigrett of Bunnlevel, NC , sister Cari Cummings and Phillip Odom, of Sanford, NC , sister Pam & Richard Hall of Sanford, NC and brother Sammy Cummings Jr.of Jacksonville, FL , grandmother Pauline Cummings of Sanford, NC. David has three amazing children, William Michael “Tito” Cummings and Hannah Cummings of Broadway, NC, Brittany Cummings of Lillington, NC, and Brandon Cummings of Sanford, NC. David adored his three grandchildren, Halle Cummings, Jaxson Cummings, and Kenzie Dunning.

David was preceded by his father Sammy Cummings Sr. and grandparents William “Bill” and Helen Strickland, grandfather Leon Cummings, and uncle Bryant “Bubba” Strickland. Although he is gone, he will live on in our hearts as a legacy and will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be Friday, September 4th from 6 pm to 8 pm at O’Quinn -Peebles-Phillips Funeral home in Lillington, NC and all other times the family will receive friends at the home of Gerald and Sandra Tigrett.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, September 5th at 11 am at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home chapel.
Graveside Service will follow shortly after at 12 pm at Spring Hill United Methodist Church in Lillington, NC.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, masks are mandatory.
