Peter D’Amico also known as Pete the Heat and the G.O.A.T. (today, tomorrow, and always) died July 8, 2020. Born September 26, 1952 in Woodbury, NJ he was the son of Anthony V. and Helen D’Amico of Blackwood, NJ. He attended Veteran’s Memorial Junior High School, Class of 1967; and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High in Camden, NJ, Class of 1970. He entered the Marine Corps in 1971 first serving at Parris Island, SC in Platoon 328; he went on to complete an Operator Course at Camp Lejeune, NC in 1972 and remained in the Marine Corps until 1974. After his military service, he became a union steam fitter with Local 322 in Winslow, NJ retiring after 45 years on March 20, 2014, with a certificate of loyalty, counsel, and participation in union affairs (an inspiration to us all). Pete lived to fish on his boat and ride his Harley. He loved all his union brothers and family very much.
Survivors include his wife, Leslie Jo D’Amico; his son Peter, Jr.; his daughters Stacey Lee and Michelle Renee; and seven grandchildren. A funeral was conducted at 10 AM on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, Hampton with interment at 12:00 PM at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, VA.
