Richard Mathews Frank, 84, of West Jordan, Utah passed away September 2, 2020 due to complications from Type 2 Diabetes. Richard was born January 2, 1936 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Roy Chester Frank and Mabel Cora Mathews.

He moved from Minnesota to Washington, DC in 1940 where his father pursued his career in law and politics. After high school, he earned his degree in Business Administration at Valparaiso University. He later joined the army, and during his service ran a slideshow for President John F. Kennedy at the Pentagon. He was a natural explorer and visited 48 states, living in 18 states before meeting his lovely wife, Karen Tippets in 1974 and settling in Utah. They met at the Terrace Ballroom in Salt Lake City and were married four months later.

Richard lived for travel and vacations, especially those which allowed him to swim and visit the beach. He also enjoyed puzzles, card games, and watching nearly any sports.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, and his children Sondra (Kevin) Boren, David (Leslie) Frank, Marla (Chris) Curtis, Julie (Rick) Smith, and Brian (Clint) Frank, 20 Grandchildren, and 14 Great Grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2020 from 1:00 – 2:45 PM with a graveside service to follow at 3:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123.

Following Salt Lake County’s mandate on facial coverings, face masks are required at all public gatherings. Social distancing will be enforced. For those unable to attend the services, Memorial Mortuaries and Cemeteries are offering a live-streaming of the funeral service on Zoom.
