Susan Adams

Keizer - Susan Adams, beloved wife, loving sister, caring friend, and great mom passed away peacefully on August 14, 2020 after a three-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Susan was born in Omaha, Nebraska on September 17, 1936, the fifth of six children to Mildred and Herbert Andrews.

She married Lyle in 1954 and happily started a family nine months later. In 1964, the family moved to Salem, Oregon for new job opportunities.

She worked in the medical records department at Salem Hospital for 30 years, where she made several lifelong friends. Even though she worked, she never missed a school pageant, sporting event or activity her children were involved with. Susan loved everything about Christmas, and collected Santa figurines so she could enjoy the holiday year-round. She got hooked on novels about Amish families, and recorded over 700 titles she read. She was a fantastic bowler most of her life, and won box fulls of trophies over the years. Susan became a second mom to every child she met; the kids in the neighborhood adored her, and stopped to visit her as adults. Her love of animals was well-known, whether they were family pets or strays that needed comfort.

Susan is survived by brothers Charles Andrews and Arthur (and Linda) Andrews, sister Marcia Iken, and her daughters Katherine and Kris. One of the brightest lights in her life also included her like-a-granddaughter Lucy Partridge.

If you'd like to honor Susan, please send a donation to any animal or cancer charity, Willamette Valley Hospice or Salem Hospital.

Because of the Covid situation, a celebration of life will be postponed until 2021. If you want to honor her now, laugh. Treat strangers with kindness. Care about those less fortunate than you. Susan didn't think she led a remarkable life even though she made a difference in the lives of so many people over her lifetime. Her daughters plan to continue her legacy of treating every person and every animal with love and respect.
