ZOMMERS, Janis (John) - Passed away peacefully, on November 27, 2006, at St. Mary's Hospital, with his close friends by his side. John was born on November 18, 1926, in Latvia. He served in the Second World War with the Latvian Legion. In 1950 John immigrated from Germany to Canada with his wife, Eleanor, who predeceased him in 1992 [1995]. Here in Canada, he worked as a mechanic at Intercity Truck Lines for 38 years. John is fondly remembered and will be missed by his sister-in-law, Gertrud Leitans and her family of Albany, USA; his close friends, Verners Cinis and John and Eveline Ozols; his long time neighbours and friends, Norma and Bill Robinson and Karl Suns of Toronto and many other friends, as well as his special friend, Irmgard Timmermeister. Sincere thanks to the 7th Floor Staff of St. Mary's Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion. Visitation will be held at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. , Kitchener, 519-749-8467, on Friday, December 1, 2006 from 10 a. m. until the time of the funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 11 a. m.
