Before moving to Des Moines, she was a longtime member of Oakland Mills Community Church, southeast of Mount Pleasant. She was active for many years in the Association of Retarded Citizens, one of the causes dear to her heart.
She was survived by her son Richard (Diana) Philpott of Des Moines; her granddaughter Katie (John) Mitchell and three great granddaughters of Waukee; her sisters Miriam Roesch of Greeley, Colorado, and Eunice McJunkin of Tuttle, Oklahoma; and her sister-in-law Mildred Unger of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, LeRoy R. Philpott, a son James Philpott, her parents, and her brothers Orlando Unger and Vernon Unger.
Funeral Services were held at First Federated Church in Des Moines, with burial in Oakland Mills Cemetery.
