Evelyn is survived by her children Wayne Thomas Owens, Sheridan Owens Knight (Roger), Larry David Owens all from Pendleton, SC; sister, Elizabeth Boling, Forister, Ward, Yellis of Greenville, SC; brother, Thomas Fred Boling (Carolyn) of Pendleton, SC; grandchildren, Stacey Lon Knight, Thomas Ray Owens, (Angela), Chad Ashley Knight (Kathy), Tammy Owens Pruett (Thomas), Timothy David Owens (Lynn); fifteen great grand children, and one great great grand child.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years Thomas George Owens.
Ms. Owens assembled with The Church of Christ in the Berea area of Greenville, SC for worship regularly. She loved, cared for and helped others when she could. She graduated from Welcome High School in 1941 as valedictorian. She used her knowledge to teach and help others learn. Evelyn went to work for Southern Bell May 29, 1941 and retired December 23, 1983 at the age of 60 with about 35 years cumulative service. She had resigned in the earlier years to care for her children and then returned to work becoming a supervisor with the company which became Bell South and was then bought by AT&T during her time there. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend that will be missed very much.
Burial will take place at Graceland West Memorial Park.
