Frances Len Ford
September 3, 1926 - August 17, 2020

OKLAHOMA CITY
Born to Fred Ford Smith and Mary Katherine (Roller) Smith in Harrah, OK, Fran and her five siblings grew up in McLoud during The Great Depression. A school teacher's interest in the young farm girl became a mission to get her into college. That ignited in Fran a lifetime of curiosity, education and self improvement.

Fran loved her family and the friends she met and kept throughout her life. She was fun loving, quick witted and matched her good humor with a gentle and caring nature. Her grandchildren called her Tutu, after she'd taken adventure by the hand and moved with her young son to Hawaii. The pretty lady was also strong, beating a brain tumor and three bouts with cancer. Through-out 93 years she was loyal and supportive, ever ready with patience and a good ear.

Fran tackled every task with attention to detail and a happy energy, a model of grace and efficiency. At the age of 51 Fran completed an accounting degree from Central State University and finished her career with the US Treasury Department.

In retirement she would help her daughter and husband Bruce as they coped with Barbie's long battle with MS. Fran also helped her son with business advice, bookkeeping and with deliveries, making friends everywhere she visited.

Her last years were at St. Ann's Independent Living and then their skilled nursing home where she made new friends and remained strong and self sufficient until the end. She once said that rather than leaving behind hidden treasures, she would leave behind the real jewels of her life, her children and grandchildren.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Irene Moore, Helen Rippen, Agnes Lou Dittemore and Janie McLaughlin; and by her daughter, Barbara Starr Langhus. She is survived by her brother, Ford Smith and wife Rosemary, by son Jon Womastek and fiancé Jill Streck, by grandchildren Jennifer Cornell, Jay Cornell and wife Ginger, and many nephews, nieces and dear friends.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
