Gus Roy "Bill" Gary was born August 20, 1930, in Wapanucka, Oklahoma, to Roy and Jewel (Watson) Gary. He married Neta Finch on October 24, 1949, and they were married over 60 years. Bill and Neta lived in Halfway for over 20 years where he managed the Halfway Coop Gin. Moving to Hale Center in 1986, Bill owned and operated Gary's Cotton Boll Gin, south of Hale Center. Bill retired from ginning in 2000 after working over 60 years in the cotton industry. A member of Hale Center First United Methodist Church, Bill enjoyed gardening, taking care of the yard, and going on walks with his dogs. His pride and joy were his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Bill/Papa will be tremendously missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Neta Gary, in 2010, four brothers, and two sisters.
Bill's survivors include two sons, Billy Gary and wife Janie of Oklahoma City and Leslie Gary and wife Jen of Lubbock, three daughters, Gale Robinson and husband Tim of Lubbock, Kathy Cockrum and husband Ron of Hale Center, and Twyla Blankenship and husband Greg of Lubbock, one brother, Gene Gary of Tehachapi, CA, and two sisters, Rachel Walker of Maryland and Loretta Gary of Bakersfield, CA. He was blessed with 65 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Hale Center Senior Citizens Center PO Box 205 Hale Center, Texas 79041 or the First United Methodist Church PO Box 1258 Hale Center, Texas 79041.
