Ida Elizabeth Lamb King was the fourth of seven children, born November 17, 1938, to the late Isadore and Ethel Mae Lamb in Dublin, Ga. She was the granddaughter of the late Oliver N. and Leila M. Lewis of Dublin. She attended public schools in Laurens County. At age 16, she married Tommy King in Dublin and subsequently moved to Jacksonville, Fla. He died in 1985. While living in Jacksonville, she worked at a Sears warehouse for many years until taking early retirement. Early on, she studied radio broadcasting, hoping to fulfill one of her life ambitions to work in the broadcasting field. She returned to Dublin in the 1990s. Mrs. King, who was baptized at Sandy Ford Baptist Church as a young girl, returned to the family church as an active member in the mid-1990s. She was baptized again there after rededicating her life to Jesus Christ. She attended Sunday School and was a member of the adult choir before becoming ill.

In Dublin, she worked briefly at Easter Seal through a program for seniors and also was a clerical assistance at a radio station. For several years, she worked as a secretary at First African Baptist Church. Throughout her life, Mrs. King enjoyed singing, her hobbies included traveling and upholstering chairs, she also enjoyed baking.
She was the mother of 13 children, five of whom predeceased her. They were two infants, including Jacqueline Anita Lamb; and Reginald B. King, Michael J. King and Carla King. Four siblings also preceded her in death: Thom- as N. Lamb, Doris M. Lawrence, James A. Lamb, and Johnny D. Lamb.
Survivors include four sons: Gregory Lamb (Yvonne), Washington, D.C.; Anthony King (Pearlie), Melbourne, Fla; David King (Pamela), Prince George, Va.; and Terrence King (Sarah), Melbourne; four daughters: Tina
R. King, Jacksonville, Fla.; Deidre Edmonds (Vernon), Jacksonville; Sonja Coleman (Robert Lee), Lilburn, Ga.; and Jennifer Hammon (Phyllip Barry), Stone Mountain, Ga.; two sisters, Yvonne Lamb-Castillo (Gehova), Dublin, Ga.; and N. Jean Bryant (Lonnie), Ellenwood, Ga.; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
