Joyce Reeves of East Orange, N.J., died on Wednesday, May 29, 2 015. Born in Newark, N.J., Mrs. Reeves was a longtime resident of East Orange. In 1961, she became the first African-American woman hired by the City of East Orange in a non-custodial position. Mrs. Reeves retired in 1996 as principal accounting clerk in the East Orange Department of Health.
