EFFINGHAM - -Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Headyville church for Rex Bailey, 23 years old Dieterich youth who apparently killed himself accidentally Tuesday.
Bailey left his home Monday morning to borrow a cornknife from a neighboring farm. He carried a shot gun with him for a chance shot at a squirrel. Apparently he was careless with the loaded weapon and leaned it against a tree from which it fell, discharging and inflicting the wound which caused his death. The body was not found until 7 a.m. Tuesday when it was located by neighbors.
Burial was in McQueen cemetery.
