WILLIAM "BOB" FINLEY

August 11, 1956 ~ September 1, 2020 (age 64)

William "Bob" Finley, of Sawyer, OK, was born on August 11, 1956 in Hugo, OK. He passed from this life on September 1, 2020 at the age of 64.

Bob was a lifelong resident of the McCurtain, Pushmataha, and Choctaw county areas. He was prominent in the community as an educator and school administrator. He was the assistant vice principal at Antlers High School for fourteen wonderful years, as well as the Industrial Arts teacher. He also served as principal of Wright City High School for eighteen years prior to his retirement.

He loved kids and wanted to see them succeed in their lives. He was always reaching out to those kids who were struggling and needing a helping hand. Also, he always wanted to be surrounded by "wonderful people" because he believed that was the way to succeed in administration.

Bob also loved to hunt and fish. To him, being in the great outdoors was a way to cure most of life's problems. His loving family remembers him as being most comfortable at "The Cabin".

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Era Finley; stepmother, Reba Finley; and sister, Joanna Cupit.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Wanda Finley of the home; sons, Collin Finley, Michael Pendergraff, and Toby Trantham of Sawyer, OK; daughters, Susan Slabaugh (husband, Nicky) of Idabel, OK and Laci Pendergraff of Sawyer, OK;

Brother, Bill Claborn (wife, Debra) of Wright City, OK; sisters, Nita Campbell (husband, Loyd) of Wright City, OK, Sherry Finley of Wright City, OK, Norma Jo Christopher of Wright City, OK, and Lynn Coons of Yukon, OK;

Special friends, Casey Claborn and family and Jared McCary and family; and a host of other family members, friends, former students, and former co-educators.

A Visitation for friends and family will be held from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Friday, September 4, 2020 at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Bow, OK.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at the Wright City High School Auditorium in Wright City, OK.

Interment will follow at Slater Memorial Cemetery in Wright City, OK.

**I was just thinking about Bob the other day out of the blue. What's he up to. Reminds me of the first time I seen Bob, Everytime I think about him, he was the pitcher, I tried to catch, first pitch ball hit me in the nose, still hurts when I think of it. Always thought of Bob as a friend. Sorry for your loss prayers are with you.may God be with you all in your time of sorrow, Amen.
