A native of Haywood County, he is the son of the late Herschel and Hattie Mae Talley. Jim was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He enjoyed fishing, reading, doing crossword puzzles, gardening, and being outdoors. Jim was a hard worker and retired from Milko and ConMet. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend and was always helping out. Jim will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joyce Stepp.
Jim is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cindy Henson Talley; daughters, JeanAnn Talley and Christy Carver; sons, Anthony and Ben Talley; sister, Mary Jane Schwanewede; three grandchildren, Aaron, Lakyn, and Jessie; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, September 3, 2020 at Smoky Mountain Cremations & Funeral Service, with Rev. Jerry Nelson and Rev. Millard Grant officiating. Burial will follow services at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. At other times the family will be at the home.
