Erica T. Harris, the pride and joy of the Harris Family. The daughter of James W. Harris & Joyce A. Harris, she was a miracle at birth. Born in Fort Worth, Texas December 17, 1971. She was born with a foot deformity, but as she grew, she learned how to walk with a cast on her foot for up to two years. From that point there was nothing that she would not attempt to do. Throughout her childhood she responded normally like any other kid. She learned to roller skate, ride a bike, play basketball, run track, swim, and just had fun with her brother Cedric, and her sisters Cassandra and Monica. However, throughout her youth she struggled with illnesses off and on, but that didn’t stop her. Growing up she was active in church and accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the family church; First Riverside Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. Erica loved Church and was able to recite the books of the Bible from Genesis to Revelations from memory well into her early forties. While going to school, even though it was special Ed, she performed extremely well, and was always a favorite with her teachers. She went on field trips and talked about how she had to milk a cow. It was funny to her. Through all of her trials she managed to finish high school, Kennedale High School in Kennedale, Texas a small suburb town that her family had moved to after leaving Fort Worth, Texas. In her last year of school her teachers began to prepare her for life. She worked at a Daycare, Nursing home, McDonalds, and Grandy's Fried Chicken. And she always gave us a daily report of her experiences at the job. She was unable to continue to work because she was stricken with a muscle disorder in her early twenties which lingered with her until her final moments of life. Erica was the most resilient, inspiring, brave, loving, kind, compassionate, respected, honest, and sincere person you will have ever met. She gave lots of hugs and compliments to people and had a sense of humor and loved to sing and dance even while in a wheelchair. She was stern with her nieces and nephews, making them mind her like she was their mama. She will be thoroughly missed. She is survived by her parents James W. Harris and Joyce A. Harris of Wichita Falls, Texas, her brother Cedric M. Harris of Mansfield, Texas, her two sisters Cassandra D. Pearson of Wichita Falls, Texas and Monica T. Harris of Fort Worth, Texas. She leaves a host of nieces and nephews; relatives and friends are unlimited.
