On June 13, 2020, Michael Drew Hodges, loving father of Brady Michael Hodges, passed away at the age of 37. Michael was born on April 29, 1983 in Brockton, Massachusetts to James Hodges and Kristen Farrar.

Michael was a United States Marine Corps Sergeant who served for eight years, completing two tours in Afghanistan with 1st Battalion, 6th Marines. After his second tour, Michael was stationed at the USMC Officer Candidates School (OCS) in Quantico, Virginia, where he instructed night navigation for four years before leaving active duty to pursue a career in the professional security sector. Michael’s pride and joy was his son Brady, age 7, who has the sweetest golf swing of any youngster in the entire New England region. Michael was an avid Boston sports fan and golfer who spent much of his life surrounded by family and friends on Cape Cod. He loved to work out and lift weights and would frequent local gyms, unless, of course, it was leg day.

Michael was preceded in death by grandparents Mary Shea, Christine and Hubert Hodges. In addition to his mother, father, and son, he is survived by grandparents Arthur and Marilyn Farrar, stepfather Gerry Orlando, and a close-knit group of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A quote from President Ronald Reagan sums up Michael’s life perfectly: “Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in this world. Marines don’t have that problem.” Veterans Crisis Line 1-800-273-8255.

A celebration of Michael’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to a special fundraiser for Michael’s son Brady through Sand Dollars for Soldiers. You can find the fundraiser on the Sand Dollar Bar & Grill Facebook page.

Burial will be at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne, MA 02532.
