Barry graduated from Central HS in Aberdeen, SD in 1971. Shorty after, he married Victoria Hughes (Vetsch) and they welcomed their first son in 1972. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and placed as a stenographer where he was stationed in Worms, Germany and received top soldier in his class for two years before moving back to Aberdeen in 1974.
While living in Aberdeen, Barry went back to school and graduated with an Associates of Arts in 1979 and a Bachelors of Science from Northern State College in 1980. They also welcomed two more kids in 1978 and in 1979.
Shortly after Barry's graduation, the family moved to Rapid City, the place they called home. Barry worked as an accountant for many years. He enjoyed watching his Minnesota VIKINGS and TWINS; reading; history; playing chess; coaching his sons soccer teams for many years; watching his kids play sports and hanging out with friends. His kids were everything to him and a big part of his life and in later years he enjoyed seeing and loving his grandkids.
Survivors include his 3 children and their spouses and five grandkids along with his 4 siblings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister.
A small private religious service was held on Friday, July 10, 2020 with his family.
