Thomas Jefferson Eller was a private in the 1st North Carolina Confederate Army . He was killed on the battlefield at Chancellorsville, Spotsylvania, Virginia on the second day of battle. He was buried where he fell, near where Stonewall Jackson was mortally wounded. James Hook in the book "James Hook & Virginia Eller; a family history and genealogy', wrote, "He was a bright boy, the pride of the family, a good teacher and a promising youth."
