He was born the son of William and Julia Ancer Bleich. Don married Phyllis Canney in Kankakee, Illinois on December 2, 1966.

He served his county in the United States Air Force during the Koren war from Febuary 13, 1953 to November 12, 1956.

Don was a truck driver for 25 years, Bradley police officer for 4 years, restauranteur; Blue Flame, Fireside Inn, Quik Shop Liquors, West Side Tavern, and Captains Pub. He also worked as a driver for the Kankakee City Bus Co., for 2 years, and now the current owner of the Captains Pub. He loved golf, Texas hold'em, the Cubs, and making people laugh.

His immediate family are daughters, Terri V. and Paul Kingery of Peculiar, MO, Juli B. Curtis of Gilman, IL., sons, Damon L. Bleich of Bradley, IL., Greg A. Bleich of Kankakee, IL.

Stepdaughters and sons in law, Pamela S. and Clifford Ehrhardt of Mattson, IL., Lisa G. and Edward Radke of Rock City, IL., brother and sister-in-law, William and Jan Bleich of Champaign, IL., sisters in law, Charlene White of Kankakee, IL, Mary Canney of Maryland.

There are 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, his beloved dogs, Sophie and Sammy.
