Susan Faye Fleming, 62, of Mad River, Calif., passed away May 13, 2010, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born May 6, 1948, in Sonora, Calif. She met her husband, Lorin, in 1968 while attending Chico State College. They were married in December of that year.

Mrs. Fleming was actively involved with STAR as a volunteer dispatcher for more than 20 years. In 1994-95 she received the Kris Kelly Memorial Star of Life Award as an outstanding member of the Emergency Medical Services System in the area of EMS dispatch support.

She retired in June 2008 after 29 years of service to the schools of Southern Trinity.

Mrs. Fleming is survived by her loving husband, Lorin; children Eric Fleming of Redding and Janine LoBue (Tony) of Cottonwood; loving grandchildren Jacob and Megan Fleming, and Austin and Trenton LoBue; brothers and sisters Kip Foppiano, Pete Foppiano, Donna Broglio and Anne Mc- George. She was preceded in death by her son Marc and grandson Justin.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at the Ruth Lake Community Service District Community Hall across from Southern Trinity High School. A potluck will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Fleming requested donations be made to the Two Rivers Community Care Group, P.O. Box 3, Bridgeville, CA 95526.

Arrangements are under the direction of Goble's Fortuna Mortuary, Fortuna.
