Michael Melton, 75, of Decatur, IL., passed away August 29, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur. He was born December 21, 1944 in St. Louis, MO., the son of Wallace Earl and Genevieve Rose (Ryder) Melton. Michael married Kathleen Rupert on June 20, 1970 and she preceded him in death on January 20, 2016.
He is survived by his children, Michelle Melton (Ronnie) Warren of Nixa, MO., Michael Christian Melton, Jason Eric Melton, Carol Ann Reynolds, and Joseph Henry Melton, all of Decatur; 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; brother, Wallace Winston (Sheryl) Melton; sister-in-law, Judith Ann Peters; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Genevieve Melton; wife, Kathleen Lorraine Melton; siblings, Jeanine Melton Houston, Joan Irene Melton, Earl Ryder Melton, Jacquelyn Melton Nealon, and Billy Melton; and special friend, Art Adler, Jr.
Michael worked at Firestone, was a video repair technician and drove a truck for Van Horn. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, watching TV and exercising. Michael was a member of Resurrection Life Church, Decatur.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Resurrection Life Church.
