Gwen dedicated her professional life to Public Education as a Teacher, Coach, Principal and School Board Member. She was a life-long resident of De Soto and was a charter board member and past president of the De Soto Railroad Employees’ Memorial. She was a long-time and faithful member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and a huge contributor and proponent of “All Things De Soto”. She loved her community and her people.
Gwen is survived by her good friend, Debbie Wilson of De Soto, Missouri; dear cousins Martha Lewis (Bernard) Ketcherside of De Soto, Missouri, Dick (Barb) Lewis of De Soto, Missouri and Faye Lewis Pashia of Maryland Heights, Missouri; nephew Jeffrey (Jodi Christopher) Lewis of De Soto, Missouri, great nephew Brandon Lewis; many beloved Taft relatives, including Jeff, Justin, Kelsie and Joyce of California, JaneAnn of Kansas City, Joyce, Nick and family of New England.
Preceded in death by her father Dwight Taft, mother Ruth Maness Lewis Beatte and step-father Earl “Lank” Lewis; step-brother Joseph “Cornie” and his late wife Blanche Lewis; half-brother Brian Taft; dear cousins Lavon Lewis Tinker, Tommy Lewis, Charles “Muggs” Lewis, Gregory “Scottie” Lewis, and Walter “Butch” Lewis.
