Mark Goodman, age 55, born February 9, 1963 in Belleville, Ill., the youngest of ten children, passed away Thursday morning, April 5, 2018 at Murray Development Center, Centralia, Ill., while surrounded by his family.
Mark lived at home with his family until the age of 15 and had attended Mamie O. Stookey School. He loved riding the bus, swimming, and listening to music. He loved kisses and hugs from his family and friends. He was non-verbal but could communicate with his sweet smile or a wave of his hand.
Mark had lived at Murray Center since he was 15 years old. He was happy there and considered it home. He was well taken care of by the staff and he loved them like family.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Helene, nee Peerman, Goodman, nephew Michael Goodman, nephew Steven Friedman and great-niece Peyton Goodman.
Surviving are his brothers and sisters Kenneth T. Goodman of Wilsonville, Ill., James and Shirley Goodman of Fairview Heights, Ill., William and Kathy Goodman of Lebanon, Ill., John Goodman & fiancé Melody Bartelsman of Mascoutah, Ill., Genevieve and Michael Hommel of Mascoutah, Ill., Mary and Allen Friedman of Florissant, Mo., Suzan and Terry Mueller of Mascoutah, Ill., Jeffery and Debbie Goodman of Valmeyer, Ill., Gerald Goodman of Belleville, Ill., and nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and great nephews and his loving family at Murray Center.
Memorial donations would be appreciated to Murray Parents Association, and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to 1535 West McCord, Centralia, IL 62801.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, and also one half-hour prior to the Mass on Monday, April 16, 2018 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 625 St. Nicholas Dr., O’Fallon, IL, 62269.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Monday, April 16, 2018 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O’Fallon, with Msgr. William Hitpas presiding. Burial will follow at O’Fallon City Cemetery, O’Fallon, Ill.
