"CANISTEO - Marcia "Ann" Adams, 90, of Chestnut Street, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side Monday afternoon (Dec. 4, 2017) after a brief illness.

Ann was born March 9, 1927 in North Hornell, the daughter of William and Louise (Loetzer) Garwood and grew up in Canaseraga. On Aug. 21, 1949 in Canaseraga, she married Herbert Frederick "Fred" Adams, who predeceased her in June of 1998. She was also predeceased by a sister, Margaret "Gar" Richardson.

Ann was a lifelong resident of the Canisteo Valley, graduated from Canaseraga Central School class of 1944 and went on to earn her Bachelor's of Science degree in business at Miami University (Ohio). Ann was a member of the Canisteo Presbyterian Church congregation for many years and sang in their choir. She was an avid reader and a member of the Wimodaughsian Free Library in Canisteo. She loved traveling, especially to NYC with her daughters and granddaughters to see Broadway shows. Ann never missed her grandchildren's swim meets and ball games. She was known for her sharp wit and sense of humor and did the daily crossword puzzle in ink. Ann also displayed intense patriotism. She and her lady friends played in a card club that met weekly for nearly 70 years. Ann enjoyed her evening cocktail and was known to say, "It's 5 o'clock somewhere."

At Ann's request there will be no calling hours. A memorial celebration will be at the convenience of the family.
