Linda M. Lord, 67, of South Drive, Westerly, passed away on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 11, 2010, at The Westerly Hospital, after a short illness.
She was born in Westerly and was the beloved daughter of the late George "Red" and Minnie (Rosso) Lord. She was also predeceased by her sister, Sylvia (Lord) Holmberg. She is survived by her niece, Ingrid Holmberg, wife of Sean Cheesman, of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; her nephews, Erik Holmberg of Los Angeles, Calif., Teodor Holmberg of N.Y.; her brother-in-law, Ted Holmberg of Bethesda, Md., and East Greenwich, R.I.
Linda enjoyed her large family, which includes her aunts, Florence Marie and Ange Castagnaro; her cousins, Louise, Jilda, Denny, Rosemarie and Bobby, and their children and grandchildren.
Linda was an employee at General Dynamics for almost 50 years and recently was recognized as a distinguished ship builder. Like her father, she was a sports fan and was an avid follower of the Boston Red Sox.
Linda will be deeply missed by her family, friends and co-workers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High Street, Westerly. There will be no procession from the funeral home.
Burial will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. Calling hours will take place on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly.
