Allie Albert, 79, of Fort Myers, Florida (formerly of Sylvania, Ohio), passed away on December 3, 2017 at Hope Hospice at the Shell Point Community, in Fort Myers, Florida, surrounded by family.
Allie was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Tom and Belle Albert. Allie graduated from South Dakota State University with Bachelor's degrees in Math and Electrical Engineering. He then attended the University of Chicago and graduated with a Master's in Business Administration.
While living in Chicago, Allie worked for Commonwealth Edison and married Martha, his wife of 48 years. They moved to Toledo in 1973, where Allie worked for Toledo Edison until he retired. They then moved to Fort Myers in 1998.
Allie was an avid Lionel train collector. His greatest pride was his family. He was also well-known for his cookies.
Allie was preceded in death by his two brothers, Dr. Samuel (Sheila) Albert and Tom (Hazel) Albert II; and their parents, Tom and Belle Albert. He is survived by his wife, Martha; daughters, Julie (Rob) Poignon and Holly Seguin; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and sisters, Anna Mae Albert, Rose (Alex) Adah, and Zina (John) Kangelaris.
At Allie's request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial tribute in Allie's name may be made to Hope Hospice of Fort Myers, the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, or a charity of the donor's choice.
