Raymond Thomas "R.T." Lee, Jr., 91 of Waycross died Wednesday (August 17, 2021) at Baptist Village Nursing Home after an extended illness.

Mr. Lee was born in Hoboken to the late Raymond T. Lee, Sr. and Dollie Medlin Lee Courson ; also preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Prevatt Lee and daughter, Sharon Lee Tatum; two siblings, Eldridge Lee and Marlene Aldridge.

He served his country faithfully in the United States Army and retired from CSX Railroad after 40 years as a car inspector. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, but his main hobby in life was attending to his church( Sweat Memorial Baptist ) he was a man of faith and generosity where he constantly gave his time and abilities.
He was ordained as a deacon in 1964 and currently holds the title Deacon Emeritus; and he taught the Senior Adult Sunday School Class for over 50 years. His commitment to serve God and others throughout his life was a blessing to many people, and when the Lord called him home His first words were truly, "Well done thou good and faithful servant".

Mr. Lee is survived by two daughters,
Connie Bryson (husband Mike) of Blackshear,
Bonnie Peacock (husband Rev. Coleman) of Douglas, Georgia;

four grandchildren,
Cristi Blount (husband Tinker) of Waycross,
Kevin Steedley (wife Shannon) of Waycross,
Brett Peacock (Sheila) of Douglas,
Kyle Peacock of Astoria, New York;

eight great-grandchildren,
Gracelyn Blount, Bridger Blount, Luke Steedley, Lane Steedley, Conleigh Steedley, Branden Peacock, Natalie Peacock, Carlie Peacock; two brothers, George Lee of Hoboken and Glynn Lee of Hoboken; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Monday (September 6, 2021) at 2:00pm at Sweat Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will follow in High Bluff Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00pm at the church.

The family requests the Deacons of Sweat Memorial Baptist Church, the Senior Adult Sunday School Class, and staff of Baptist Village to serve as honorary pallbearers; they should be at the church by 1:45pm.

Memorial contributions in honor of Mr. Lee may be made to Sweat Memorial Baptist Church, 510 W Blackshear Ave., Waycross, GA, 31501.

The family would like to thank Baptist Village Nursing Home and its staff for their dedication and excellent service, making it Mr. Lee's home for the last four years.
