Gordon C. Thompson, age 86 of Grafton, ND passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018 at his home in Grafton.
Gordon Clayton Thompson was born January 31, 1932 in Grafton, ND, the son of the late Clarence and Gladys (Larson) Thompson. He attended the Sinkler School near Grafton and graduated from Grafton High School in 1950. Gordon started farming with his father right out of high school.
He married Alice Jane Miller on May 23, 1954 at the Grafton Federated Church. The couple lived and farmed near Grafton until 2016 when they moved into town.
Gordon was a member of the Grafton Federated Church. He served on the church board several times and was active in the Men's Club. He served on the Board of Directors for Walsh Rural Water for a number of years. Gordon loved to work with wood. He built his home and did all the cabinetry himself. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially loved to spend time with his family.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Alice Jane, Grafton, ND; his children: Brian (Kimberly) Thompson, Grafton, ND; Lisa D. Johnson, Marana, AZ; Cheri (Randy) Cross, Fargo, ND; Holly (Brent) Meester, Fargo, ND; eleven grandchildren: Shana, Garrett, Logan, Brandon, Lindsay, Ashley, Aaron, Adam, Emily, Daniel and Sarah; five great grandchildren and his sister, Lois Larson, Fargo, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Grafton Federated Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton, ND. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at South Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Grafton, ND.
