Brenda Lee (Hawk) Hogan was born on August 2, 1941 in DeWitt, Michigan, to William E. and Florence A. (Bower) Hawk, Sr., the youngest of 16 children. She passed away serenely into God's open arms on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, in Lansing, Michigan. She was 80 years old.

She married J. Douglas Hogan on December 5, 1992, in Lansing, Michigan; enjoying almost 30 years of marriage. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns. She was a proud and fiercely protective mother of her children and grandchildren; and her Hawk family heritage.

She is survived by her husband Doug, four children: Bruce (Lyn) Ranshaw, Lyle (April) Ranshaw, Darcy (Mitchell) Hallenbeck, and Lawrence (Michelle) Schneider, Jr.; grandchildren: Cody Ranshaw, Caley (Gabe) VanMarter, Xavier Schneider, Amaya Schneider, and Sarah Hallenbeck; step-grandchildren: Kristen (Dan) Rush, Jessica (Luke) Carrie; two great-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Thelma (Carl) Grinold, Doris (Frank) Judge, Wanda (Melvin) Dague, Ada (Berl) Dieter, Emma (Jim) Decatur, Gwen (Bill) Oliver, Delores (Keith) Davis, and JoAnn (Dutch) Schlienz; brothers: Mervil (Agnes) Hawk, Robert (Elly) Hawk, William (Glenna) Hawk, Jr., Carl Hawk, and Douglas Hawk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams presiding. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 6, 2021 from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
