Henry Leroy Armstrong, Sr., 82, of Mt. Lake Park, MD, passed away Friday, August 28, 2020, at Garrett Regional Medical Center, Oakland, MD.
Born September 23, 1937, in Vindex, MD, he was the son of the late Frederick Orville and Emma Pearl (Stewart) Armstrong. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Jeremey Wiles; one great-great grandson, Ryan White; four brothers, Darrell, Franky, Harold, and Jimmy Armstrong; one sister, Louise Brady.
Henry worked as a laborer for Oakland Coin Laundromat. He worked at Par-Mat Lanes and Arnold Brothers. Henry served in the United States Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors, and loved being with his family.
Henry is survived by his wife, Betty May Armstrong; three sons, Henry Armstrong, Jr., and wife, Brittany, Oakland; Robert Armstrong, Woodstock, VA; Michael Armstrong and girlfriend, Chelsea, Oakland; three daughters, Pauline Gank and husband, Jerry, Oakland; Sandy Phillips and husband, Neil, Eldridge, MD; Pamela Dewitt, Oakland; two brothers, Bob Armstrong and wife, Maggie, Canton, OH; Tom Armstrong and wife, Kathy, Kitzmiller, MD; three sisters, Jane Walsh, Waldorf, MD; Darlene Armstrong and husband, Clarence, Laurel, MD; Mary Tusing and husband, Jim, Oakland; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A. 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland MD, 21550, on Monday from 2-4pm and 5-8pm. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at 11:00 a.m.. Interment will be at Garrett Memorial Gardens, Oakland.
