Jackie Walker, 81, of Hopkinsville, died at 12:03 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020 at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with her nephew, the Rev. Phillip Brumfield, and the Rev. Dr. Tim Jernigan officiating. Private burial will follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Pocatello, Idaho, she was born March 2, 1939 the daughter of the late Jack and Christine White. She was a homemaker and also worked as a Mary Kay consultant. She was a member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years where she served in many leadership roles including former WMU Director, English as a Second Language teacher, and volunteered with the children’s tutoring ministry. She was active in the Christian County Baptist Association. She served as the state president of the Women’s Mission Union for many years. She was a former year-round volunteer with Operation Christmas Child where she served as drop-off site coordinator for Christian County.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Clarence Thomas “Tommy” Walker, Jr. who died in 2014; and her son: Michael Allen Walker who died in 2005.

Survivors include her son: John Thomas (Karen) Walker of Hopkinsville; her daughters: Wendy (Jon) Abbitt of Pinehurst, NC, Lisa (Billy) Thomas of Pinehurst, NC, Lynn (Lindsey) Clark of Hopkinsville, and Beth Britto of Hopkinsville; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
