Lawrence grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma and graduated from Lawton High school in 1942. He enjoyed track and playing football. After high school he joined the US Navy and served 4 years being honorably discharged on March 13th, 1947 with a rank of SFC.
He then joined the Army Reserves and served for 16 years. He was honorably discharged from the Army Reserves on October 17th, 1957 with a rank of M/Sgt.
After his active service he accepted a job as a State Trooper with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He served as an Oklahoma Highway patrolman for 21 years patrolling the interstate highways near the city of Ardmore, OK.
Lawrence married Mary Rosa Kahalehoe on the 22nd day of May,1948. They were happily married for 41 years. She died November 15th, 1989.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Files.
A Graveside Service will be held at Emerald Hills Memorial Park in Kennedale, TX on Friday, August 28, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. followed by burial.
