Professional Basketball Player. He played four seasons of college basketball for the University of Connecticut and was selected in the second round of 1989 National Basketball Association (NBA) draft. He played 18 seasons in the NBA with the first eight being with the Portland Trail Blazers. He also played with the Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors, and New Jersey Nets. He received the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award in 1993 and was selected as an All-Star in 1994. He played 461 straight games for Portland to start his career, which still stands as a franchise record. He then signed with the Phoenix Suns as a free agent and stayed there for four seasons. The highlight of his tenure with the Suns was scoring 50 points against the Denver Nuggets on January 16, 2000. He became the oldest player at 33 years of age and two months to register his first 50-point game. He also played for the Detroit Pistons, the Golden State Warriors and the New Jersey Nets before he retired in 2007. He held career NBA per-game averages of 14.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.05 steals, and 1.03 blocks. His 1,380 games played are the 8th most all time in the NBA and second among players eligible for the 2015 Basketball Hall of Fame. Robinson made 1,253 three pointers in his career. Among players who qualified for the 2015 Class of the Basketball Hall of Fame, he ranked fifth among all players for field goals made and first among those 6'10" or taller. In 2014, he was named to a team assembled by Dennis Rodman as part of his "basketball diplomacy" effort in North Korea with the job of playing an exhibition match against the Northern Korean Senior National Basketball Team to celebrate the birthday of Kim Jong-un. The team also included Kenny Anderson, Vin Baker, Craig Hodges, Doug Christie, Sleepy Floyd, and Charles D. Smith.
