Ray Charles Allen was born on October 10, 1956 in Rockford, IL; to the union of James and Edna Allen. He departed this earthly life on August 21, 2020 in East Bank Nursing Home in Loves Park after a short illness. Ray attended Auburn High School, where he played basketball. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He loved to talk about sports and loved his Dobbs hats. Ray leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Shona Neal; a son, Ray (Deidra) Tillman; sisters, Peggy Allen and Betty (Richard) Pennie; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Edna Allen; his beautiful wife, Shirley Tillman-Allen; and three brothers, Elvin Allen, Clifton Allen, and Pastor Jesse Allen.

Moving visitation will be held Saturday August, 29, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Burial will be held at Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Private services will be held at 6:00 p.m.
