Abraham Singer,born ca.1833, in Prussia, was one of two brothers who came to the United States from the border of Russia and Germany. He married Maria Williams on Dec. 26.1858. He enlisted in LaFayette,Ala.on March 6,1862 and was mustered in at Camp Johnson on April 28, in Capt.Talbot's Company of Alabama Volunteers, Company I, 37th Alabama Infantry Regiment.On July 4th,1863 he was captured at Vicksburg, MS. and signed his parole on July 9th.He was KIA at Missionary Ridge, Tn. on Nov. 25, 1863. It is believed he is buried in a mass grave;although,some bodies were later moved and placed in the Confederate cemetery
