SUMNER, NOLAN, The Lord called his faithful servant Nolan Curtis Sumner to his eternal home on September 9th, 2007. His family was with him when he left. Nolan was born December 12, 1922 in Hamilton, Alabama to parents James T. and Minnie Lou Armstrong Sumner. He graduated from Jacksonville College/Seminary in Jacksonville, Texas June 1953. He married Martha Mae Coffman on Feb. 19, 1946. They had two children, William Curtis and Pamela Sumner-Rothenberg. He served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 1943 to Dec. 1945 in England, France, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, & Germany. After completing his military service he was called to preach. He served as Pastor for Myrtle Springs Baptist Church, Fifth Street Baptist in Levelland, Texas, Valverde Baptist, Old College Avenue Baptist (later renamed Highland Baptist Church), First Baptist of Carthage, and Shepherd Drive Baptist in Euless, Texas. He also served as interim Pastor for Webb Chapel Baptist in Farmers Branch. He was preceded in death by his first wife Martha, daughter Pam and brothers Laudie, Austin, Doyle, Garvis, and Alvis. In 2001 he married Betty Miller Abercrombie and their two families became one. Nolan is survived by Betty, his son Bill and wife Sabrina, brother Herbert, step-daughters Gail Hile and Mindy Bennett, son-in-law Rich Rothenberg, and other nieces and nephews and family too numerous to mention. Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 11 from 5-7 PM at Rhoton Funeral Home. Services will be at Webb Chapel Baptist Church on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007 at 11:00 AM, and burial will be at Hilltop Memorial Park, Carrollton, TX. Dignity Rhoton 1511 S.
