He was named the American Football League's Rookie of the Year after rushing for 691 yards and scoring five touchdowns. The highlight of his career came in 1977 when he helped lead the Oakland Raiders to a 32-14 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl XI. Garrett rushed for 19 yards and caught a pass for 11 yards. During his career, he also played for the Chicago Bears and New York Jets. Upon retirement, he had rushed for 4197 yards and 28 touchdowns in addition to catching 182 passes for 1931 yards and seven touchdowns.
