Patrick W. Rush, 66, of Solvay, passed away Tuesday surrounded by his loved ones, after a long illness. Born in Camp Lejeune, NC he resided most of his life in the Fairmount area. Pat was a graduate of Bishop Ludden and Mount St. Mary's In Maryland. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War and retired as a Sergeant First Class (SFC) from the reserves after 15 years. Pat was assigned to Company A 3rd Battalion 389th Regiment in Mattydale, NY. Pat retired from the Post Office after 30 years. He was an avid chess player and was member of the US Chess Federation.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Nora Rush and his brother, Michael Rush. Survivors: his wife of 25 years, Karen (Bates) Rush; children, Clinton J. Beebe, Jennifer Lynn (Robert) Beebe, Nicholas Hal (Robin) Beebe; grandchildren, Courtney Leigh Honeywell, Rory James Beebe, Lillian Grace Beebe, Nora Catherine Beebe; sisters, Norene Saccone, Linda Atkinson, Georgia Grady, Mary Lombardo; aunt, Margaret (George) Cole; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Shelby.
Services: Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wanderers Rest Humane Association, 7138 Sutherland Drive, PO Box 535, Canastota, NY 13032.
